The Process – From Start to Finish
Review Art
If you have your own artwork you’d like printed, we can take a look to see how well it will print. We can help with tweaks and adjustments when necessary to ensure your graphic is of the highest quality. If you’d like us to create artwork to use, we will work to make sure we create something exciting for your company to use!
Art Proof Approval
Once we’ve reviewed and made changes to your artwork or created artwork from scratch on your behalf, we’ll send it to you for review. The mockup will include all relevant information, including size and colors used. Once you’ve had a chance to review the mockup, please send any feedback you might have for us. When you’re happy with everything, we’ll get started with the next step!
Color Separation
Now that we have the artwork ready to go, we begin by breaking each color down onto its own film in a process called color separation. Once we have each color broken down onto film, we’ll begin the screen exposure process.
Screen Exposure
In the next step, we create a screen stencil from the graphic on the film in the screen exposure phase. We apply the film onto a pre-stretched screen and expose it to a high-intensity light for a set amount of time.
Screen Preparation for Production
After we’ve washed the screen off and allow it to dry, we get ready for production. We apply what’s often called block-out on areas outside of the design in order to ensure the prints are high-quality. We also tape off the edges of the screen, which helps prevent ink leakage.
Mixing the Ink
While we work on the film and screens, we have part of our team prep the ink and set up our printing press. Depending on the order, we can use stock ink or custom mix ink for you!
Set Up
Each project is unique, so we treat each project with the attention it deserves. We carefully determine all of the settings and technical factors necessary to ensure the final print comes out properly. After everything is double checked and squared away, we take note of our process so we can provide a quick turnaround the moment you order more!
